Feature interview in The Bridge Journal

After my recent review of their double gusset briefcase, Florence’s The Bridge asked to feature me in their new online journal. The piece includes some general background information about yours truly and my approach to style as well as some personal advice for visiting and enjoying Toronto. An excerpt:

We have four very distinct seasons in Toronto so what you wear really depends on the time of year. You can go from heavy flannels and overcoats in January, to linen and loafers in July. But regardless, there are some constants in my wardrobe: I always wear a jacket, whether it’s a sport coat in colder months or a linen jacket in the heat. A hat is a must to keep snow/rain/sun off your face. I have a number of beaver felt fedoras for winter and panamas for summer. And I wear heavier shoes for some of the year – brogues or my Crockett & Jones Coniston boots – while in the heat I love loafers – tassel loafers for dressier occasions, boat shoes for casual. My only exception is soccer games, when I bust out my Toronto FC jersey and scarf.

What I failed to mention in the article, when sharing my advice for adding a leather bag to your wardrobe, is where to buy them. It is essential, I think, to find a shop that specialises in high-quality craftsmanship – like Betty Hemmings and LeatherFoot in Toronto – because they will be able to guide you and answer your questions in depth. They can also help you understand that a fine leather bag is an investment, not just a wardrobe staple.

My thanks to The Bridge for this feature, which you can read in its entirety here.
